Couple uses roommate's private bathroom despite having a master bedroom with their own en-suite, calls her “petty and hostile” when she asks them to stop

A hallway bathroom sits just off the shared living area of the roommates' apartment.
I (24F) live in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment with a couple (29M and 30F).
Their bedroom is the master with an attached private en-suite bathroom. My bedroom is down the hall, and my bathroom is located right off the main hallway between the living room and kitchen.

When we moved in and split up the rent, we agreed that the hallway bathroom would be mine exclusively to balance out them having the larger master

bedroom with their own attached bath. I have never once walked into their bedroom or used their en-suite.

Over the past few months, they have consistently been using my bathroom. Whenever they are hanging out in the living room or cooking in the kitchen, they just use the hallway bathroom instead of walking the extra fifteen feet

into their own bedroom. It started as occasional use, but now they leave their personal care items on my counter, track water on the floor, and use up toilet paper that I buy for myself.

Last week, I sent a message in our group chat politely reminding them of our agreement and asked them to start using their own en-suite bathroom so that I can have my own space kept clean and private.

They did not take it well. They argued that because the bathroom is situated in the main hallway and not inside a bedroom, it is unreasonable to expect them not to use it when

they are in shared areas. They said making a big deal out of them using the closest toilet is petty and hostile, and they have been giving me the cold shoulder around the apartment ever since.

I understand that the bathroom is physically located in the hallway, but I pay for a private bathroom in our lease arrangement and feel like they are taking advantage of convenience at my expense.

Rosemary_017 NTA. They can't respect personal space and boundaries. Check their reaction if you start to use their bathroom. These type of people seriously give me the ick.

SekritSawce Show them. Don't tell them. Fight fire with fire. Start going through their bedroom to use their bathroom at times when they're using your bathroom. Because why should you wait? Right? NTA especially if this was agreed- upon.

finok 188 NTA. You agreed from the start that it was your bathroom. The fact that it's in the hallway doesn't suddenly change that. They have their own bathroom. Walking 15 extra feet is not a hardship!

Senior_Performer_387 If they want to be petty. Fight petty with extremely petty. Take their stuff out every time Don't leave toilet paper in there for them to use. You could lock the door.

anonymous_throwsawai You state that you pay for a private bathroom in your lease agreement... remind them of this by sending a screenshot of this agreement from your lease to the group chat. Tell them that if they're not going to adhere to the agreement in the lease, then you will need to renegotiate the amount you are paying to reflect this.

B58_Hustler First thing in the morning get up before them, go into the Master bathroom and let go of a massive dump. Don't turn on the fan and leave the door open when you are thru. Go nuclear on them and I bet they rethink it.

agamottos They should've thought about that when they made the agreements, NTA.

Cardabella NTA. If they prefer the convenience of your bathroom would they prefer to swap rooms and you'll have the more distant bathroom. Probably best in future to start with a polite word vs passive aggressive note mind you. Leave yourself somewhere to go.

UnethicalFood NTA: You had an agreement that they are now in violation of.
